History of Ballikana Estate
Ballikana Estate has been with the family for four generations for nearly 125 years. ‘Balli’ in English means Creeper and Kana in English means Forest. As the name suggests, it is a forest of creepers, bursting with wildlife. In the beginning, paddy was the only crop cultivated in fields. Various cash crops like Arecanut, Coconut, Rubber, Pepper, Jackfruit and Kokum plants were introduced later.
The estate has also been the proud host of the world symposium organised in Kasargod, Kerala. It has also found its place in the literary pieces penned by renowned writers such as Dr Shivaram Karanth and Tarasu.
